Artist Peter Holbrook has devoted his entire professional career to recording his impressions and memories of varied sites in America's Southwest, along with seascapes, mountains and forests of North America.
After graduating from Dartmouth College, he attended the Brooklyn Museum Art School. Peter moved to Chicago in early 1960s, and his work was shown for years at the highly respected Richard Gray gallery. In the '70s, '80s and '90s, his work was featured an important galleries in New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Santa Fe, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Holbrook's work is in the collections at Brooklyn Museum, art Institute of Chicago, the National Collection of Fine Arts at the Smithsonian, Tucson Museum of Art and Oakland Museum of Art.
Peter recently had a painting featured in Don Hagerty's Leading the West, an art book containing the works of 100 of the West's best-known painters and sculptors. A large body of his work just completed a year long national museum tour that began to Mesa Southwest Museum, Mesa, AZ, and culminated at Springfield Art Museum, Springfield, Missouri.
Holbrook now lives and works from his studio in the mountains of Northern California.
