| I’ve always admired children’s art; especially the drawings and paintings made by youngsters in the second or third grade. They are so uninhibited and free and full of joyful colors. So here I am in my golden years trying to create paintings that are similar to those that a seven or eight-year old might do.
I made my living as a teacher and author of business subjects but I’ve been drawing, sketching, doodling and painting (it seems) my whole life. When I retired as a teacher I started the Kindergarten Art Studio; and I’ve been lucky as I now have gallery representation.

| One art critic (Arizona Republic) said: “Mr. Mason revels in testing the boundaries of perception. He creates two-dimensional images which veer slightly off center. The exaggeration of scale of his figurative images suggests a stylistic primitivism often associated with narrative folk art. Mr. Mason’s paintings run a bit amok but are full of joy. Another critic called his work “gutsy, whimsical and compositionally interesting”.
Mr. Mason’s work is held by private and corporate collectors on four continents. |
