| I want the
viewer to reevaluate what we know about animals and our
relationship to them thru manipulation of thru the paint. I
look for a balance of focus, a flow rich in content, color
and imagery that can take on a duality that is animated,
powerful, yet to some threatening.
The bird paintings are a complex almost an idyllic stream of consciousness as well as being universal shared creatures. I use collage: old letters, photos, children’s art, paint as well as found objects such as metal, wire, tin cans etc. This lends an archeological feel of the past and at the same time the birds inhabit a world of increasing urbanization. |
