Margaret Thurman and her daughter,
co-designer Myoshin Thurman, are the design team behind Echo of
the Dreamer. It is Margaret's dramatic style paired with
Myoshin's delicate workmanship that results in this bold
collection of jewelry with a singular organic design
sensibility. |

|
Begun in 1993, Echo of the Dreamer continues
to create inspiring collections season after successful season.
The result is a stunning lineup of hand-made, truly
one-of-a-kind jewelry; modern and feminine, yet rich and
sophisticated. The pillar of the designs is the varied
stones—which Thurman refers to as “art by God”—in breathtaking
colors, patterns and textures. “We often use rare and exotic
stones in unusual combinations: tourmalines, Laguna agates,
druzies, shells, opals and rough diamonds,” Thurman says,
describing just some of the exquisite components used to create
their bold rings, multi-strand necklaces, and ornate pins and
bracelets. Each piece is a work of art.
“I often hear from people many years later who tell me they
still treasure their timeless talismans,” Thurman notes.

Constantly on the lookout for unusual
minerals and stones they like to deal directly with small individual
miners whenever possible. It can be a challenge to set in silver or gold
the odd shapes and textures of these rare stones, but it’s a challenge
Echo of the Dreamer meets time and again striking the perfect balance
between raw and refined. “Our jewelry has been aptly described as modern
organic and bohemian chic,” Thurman notes. “We want to remain in touch
with trends, but not be a slave to them. Our style is current but
timeless.” |
|
|
| When asked about
formative influences on their current creative
vision Thurman sites Henri Cartier-Bresson,
Helmut Newton, the Buddha and Picasso; their
singular pieces are inspired by the cultures of
the world, reflecting a celebration of nature
and the elements. Always sought out for its
exceptional quality and unique design, Echo of
the Dreamer was even commissioned to create
custom pieces for the Nicole Miller Spring 2005
Show.

The magic of these unique
pieces continually makes real Thurman’s belief
that dreaming is an infinite extension of the
artistic impulse. Hence the name “Echo of the
Dreamer.” May their jewelry awaken the dreamer
in you. |
