Ellen de Jongh - A Featured Artist of the Lanning Gallery [Sedona Arizona]

Born in 1946 in the Netherlands, spent her childhood in the Caribbean, Denmark and the Netherlands. Finished high-school in Holland and graduated at the Royal Dutch Art Academy in the Hague in 1968. There-after she was asked to create fashion-drawings for fashion-companies and portraits and at the same time she was an employee in a fashion-academy.

She got the possibility to start her career as free artist in 1989 after finishing other occupations. She now lives and works in the north of Holland in a old-fashioned Dutch farm-house where she has her own workshop.

After starting her work in a rather traditional way, she has developed her style of painting more and more in a abstract way, where one can still discover the subject that inspired her. Her paintings are always very colourful, strong in texture and expressions with many surprising details.

She gets inspired by visiting impressive events as she visited the Venetian Carnival (1996), Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum ( 1999) and now lately the cliffs and canyons in the U.S. Her paintings are widely sold in Holland and seen in art-events in Holland and Belgium and she is represented by Lanning Gallery in Sedona, Arizona in the U.S.
